This unit outlines the skills and knowledge needed to manage the initial response to workplace health and safety (WHS) incidents. It also covers the processes of planning, conducting, and reporting on investigations of WHS incidents that have caused or could cause injury or damage, which may involve consulting with specialist experts.
This unit is relevant to individuals working in diverse WHS roles across various industries, utilizing a broad knowledge base and advanced skills in numerous WHS scenarios. It does not apply to investigations conducted for the purpose of offering legal advice or preparing for legal proceedings.
Course Inclusions and Requirements
- Lead Response the initial response to incident
- Develop and resource an incident investigation plan

- Lead an incident investigation that is not part of providing legal advice or preparing for legal proceedings
- Record and report WHS incident investigation
Student Requirements
- 18 years of age or above
- Have existing real world experience investigating incidents on the workplace or
- Have completed previous ICAM training
- Ability to read and write english
- Year 12 literacy and numeracy skills
- Access to a laptop with wireless internet
- Ability to confidently use a computer for online research and word processing
